Ways to Style the Slip Dress

Guess what?? We’re twinning! Again! What’s new? ๐Ÿ˜› The slip dresses we have on was a huge trend last year, but we hope that it sticks around this year as well.We decided to have a little twinning fun by wearing the same glittery mesh crop top along with similiar slip dresses, but with our own flare. Do you love this trend?

I’m not sure where I got this black polyester dress, but it has been in my closet for some time. It came in good use today when I found it to be anย amazing pair with this under layer top. The color combo definitely goes well my hair :). Polyester is a good material to wear in Winter because it is thin and light, yet very warm. However I only like it in the color black, any other colors and it will look tacky through the fabric sheen it gives off with certain colors.

Sheer Metallic Mesh Top

If you haven’t noticed already, Chloe and I are wearing the same layering top! We got this lovely sheer, metallic, turtleneck top from the one and onlyย Forever 21. I was grateful to receive this beautiful piece from Chloe for my birthday! At first, I tried it on with just a bra underneath and I was like “Uhh…” haha! It was because this top is just sheeeeeeeeeeeeer af lol. I mean, if you could work it, you could wear it as is. Not for me though! I needed to use this as a layering piece. Probably always haha. When I found out how to pair this top with things such as this slip dress, it instantly became one of my favorite pieces of the season. These pictures do it no justice, but if you look at it in real life, it shimmers very beautifully.

I know Chloe and I both wore patent boots, but it was not on purpose! We just always have the same train of thought, I swear lol. I thought these perspex boots fit perfectly with the edginess look of my outfit. The shininess and sleek look of the boots fit right in with my shimmering top and clean LBD.

Sheer Metallic Mesh Top

Since we’re still in Winter, I decided to go with warmer colors for this look. It’s always fun for me to play with layers. So I went with my sheer metallic mesh top and my pleated slip dress, both from Forever 21.ย  I LOVE slip dresses since they’re so comfortable to wear and they look amazing on. Instead of going for an opaque layer for the top, I went with something more sheer to give it that edgier look. With the sheerness and the glitter detail together, it gives this outfit more depth, rather then just two plain solid layers.

Usually I would wear this dress in the Summer without any layers underneath and then it would be the perfect Summer dress. It’s great to play around with pieces so you can make a piece fit for multiple seasons! Another fun thing to play around with an outfit is all the different textures. Within this outfit, you can see that I’m playing around with something glittery and with the slip, a pleated satin texture.

Faux Patent Leather Booties

I love wearing these maroon patent leather booties for Winter because it’s so versatile with so many looks. I especially love deep and dark colors for Winter. Since I love playing with all types of different textures, I had to add something different in the mix. Playing around with textures is always so fun for me.

We hope this post has inspired you to style your next slip dress! See ya next week! ๐Ÿ™‚

Such a cute way to layer those dresses! I was actually looking at a similar dress to the black one the other day but could not figure out how I wanted to wear it, so I didn’t get it, haha! Now, if I see that dress again, I will definitely look for something like that shirt to layer with it!
