Different Ways to Use Essential Oils and Their Benefits

Essential oils have always been around, but over the past year they have been popping up EVERYWHERE! We have some oils from New Directions Aromatics and we’re going to share with you how we use our favorite oils to help improve our health and beauty.

Essential Oil Diffuser

We LOVE making our house smelling fresh. Whenever we have guests over, we’ll bring out our essential oil diffuser and mix our favorite oil concoctions. We also like to leave it on overnight to clean the air while we are sleeping.


 Speaking of cleaning, oils are really tough on microbes and leave your house smelling wonderful! We like to put a few drops of sweet orange essential oil , eucalyptus essential oil , and tea tree essential oil when we wipe down our floors and counter-tops! It kills germs while being tough on scum. Also, anywhere that tends to have odor like shoes, bathrooms, and pet areas can also be freshened up naturally with essential oils. Only a few drops are necessary.

Aromatherapy in the Bath

Whenever we have a long day, we like to unwind by sprinkling a few drops of our favorite essential oils into a nice hot bath. We like to use peppermint for a tingling sensation on the skin, chamomile to help relax the mind, lavender, and rose. If you’re looking for some cleansing action, you can make a sugar scrub to purify your skin of impurities. All you need to do is mix a few drops of oils with some sugar. You can also use the mixture to scrub away your stress!

Essential oils for personal care

A few drops of peppermint essential oil on your toothbrush can help cleanse bad breath in an instant! If you’re having a bad skin day, you should use this recipe:

  1. Add a drop or two of each: tea tree, lavender, geranium, sandalwood oils in a bowl
  2. Add some raw honey in with water and mix
  3. Then use the mix to wash your face!

It is especially effective for acne, wrinkles, and also works as a natural toner.
