You usually associate Fall season with cold weather, right? Surprisingly, the weather hasn’t been too bad here in Los Angeles. So I was able to wear this new, off-the-shoulder, silky burnt orange blouse. When I first saw this top in stores, I was in love, but this turned out to be pretty hard to style with the way it fit on me. Since I am not too busty on top, it was a bit loose and was constantly falling down. Even if I don’t love this top as much as I did when I first got it, I made it work. Today, we’ll be talking about ways to make a clothing piece you don’t like too much into an outfit you love. Therefore nothing goes to waste.
One thing that caught my eye about this blouse is the texture and the ruched balloon sleeves. Lately, it has been all about statement sleeves. To make this outfit not so boring, I added some fun but very simple accessories. I wore speckled half moon shaped earrings from SUGARFIX by Bauble Bar and a simple gold choker from Forever 21.
So how do I change up this look to something I LOVE? I decided to wear some of my FAVORITE pieces and really jazz up the look with accessories and trendy pieces. I was thinking about wearing this top with a skirt but it just didn’t look right with how loose the top was on me. So I opted for a bottom piece that was more fitting like these comfortable jeans with a frayed ankle detail that are currently very trendy. I’d love to know if you love or hate this trend. Rather then going for a lighter bottom, I went with a dark color so the burnt orange would stand out. Since this top was too big and a bit boxy for me, I decided to tuck it in for a more polished look.
For shoes, I went with these studded chunky heels that I bought in Seoul, South Korea. This was actually my first time wearing them out! π The little turquoise stones stand out and goes so well with the orange color.
So the key to making a piece that you don’t love is to add pieces you LOVE! Even a simple handbag or a pair of statement shoes could make the difference. And of course, don’t forget to accessorize according to the style you’re going for!

It is very creative of you and very resoucful to be able to reinvent clothing from the “bottom of the closet”. I am such a minimalist, and do not like to keep many things, now I wish I’d kept some pieces that I sold or gave away.

Nice outfit! This is a great idea too. Often times, it’s good to look into what clothes we already have instead of spending money on more.
