Halloween: Jazzing it Up to the 1920s

flapper-2

This year is the first year that we’re spending Halloween together. We’re also throwing a party with friends, so we decided, like always, to dress up in the same theme. Both of us are majoring in history, so the best way to go about this was to dress up as something historical but still stylish. Of course, both of us would settle on the flappers of the 1920s: coy, fun, and glamorous!

We keep laughing in these pictures, something must have been funny! Or maybe we just enjoyed being flappers too much. 😛 Both of us are not those typical girls who can’t wait to dress in those naughty “Halloween” costumes. Instead, isn’t it more interesting and fun to dress up like a glamorous, carefree woman who looks like she’s living the life of luxury?! Now that’s what we would love to dress up as, and don’t we look exactly like that?

Many of the pieces to wear as a flapper can easily be found in your closet. Bring out all your pearls and rhinestone filled accessories. All of these accessories that I wore here are under $8 each! I found this feather boa from Target and these satin gloves from Amazon. Layering accessories is the #1 key to being a flapper. Flappers also usually wore A-line dresses to not accentuate their body and bobbed their hair to portray this boyish feature for female empowerment. This was a time where life for women became much more interesting because the conventional rules of society were gone.

When you think of the Roaring 20s, you think of the successes and wealth that people gained during this time. Of course, we can’t forget about the crazy glamorous parties filled with towers of champagne. To dress like your 1920s flapper party girl bring out all your fancy gear like I did: pearls, fringe, satin, and diamonds! You probably haven’t seen me wear any pearl accessories, but I actually love them. And now that I’ve got the chance to wear them, I made it a pearl accessory overload!

Hope you guys have an amazing Halloween!
