Convenient Style: Rompers

I am amazed to say that there are articles on what women shouldn’t wear over a certain age, and the list included rompers! I first heard this from Chloe and was very shocked by this very dumb rule. When I googled it, I was surprised to find several articles on what not to wear over this or that age. The reasoning behind rompers is that they are for teens, they are usually too bright for the older women, and they show too much skin. Fellow fashion blogger Jess Jannenga proved in her post that she could pull the romper look effortlessly, and she’s over 40! I couldn’t tell! There are thousands of rompers that can look sophisticated, are not bright in color, or has a good length. You just need to find the one that suits you.

I think my Selfie Leslie romper from Forever 21 is a good example for “what older women can wear.” The cut in front might be very low, but the choker together gives the whole romper a formal/sophisticated look. I just fell in love with the deep teal color and the fun dolman sleeves. You guys should definitely check out Selfie Leslie. Their clothes are to die for and here are more adorable rompers!

Since this romper already came with a choker, I didn’t need to add anymore neck accessories. The only accessory I have on are these dangly loop earrings from H&M. These are currently my favorite pair of earrings and if they are paired just right, they boost the sophisticated look of any outfit.

One thing I’m a huge sucker for are rompers, especially if they’re flowy and gorgeous. I couldn’t help but purchase this floral bell sleeved romper from Forever 21 because of the bell sleeves and the lace-up detail on the front. I’m really hoping this bell sleeve trend doesn’t end anytime soon. I’ve always loved bell sleeves, even as a kid. I always thought they looked like princess sleeves from the medieval times. Rompers seem to be a constant go-to for me because it’s totally convenient to wear, especially when I’m lazy or in a hurry. All we need are a few accessories and any type of outerwear and you’ll totally look put together.

Since this romper had a boho flare to it, in addition to the intricate floral pattern and layered bell sleeves, I decided on this suede dream catcher choker that I also bought from Forever 21. To top it off, I opted for a deep red lippie for a more dramatic look.

Of course, both of us had to wear something that was exactly the same. 🙂 We both consequently finished off our outfits with these pair of ankle boots from Forever 21. There’s also a chain that loops under the heel that makes this boot very unique.

And yes! If you haven’t noticed already, Cindy’s cast is off and she can start walking again! Yay!!

Cindy here, please excuse the scars around my knee and leg in these photos and future ones haha. Battle scars, my friends call them haha! Besides that, I look forward to wearing two shoes now. And hopefully my ankle will be back to normal soon so I can start wearing some cute heels :). Look forward to what we have next time! <3

Those rompers look gorgeous. I think it doesn’t what age you are once you find the ones age appropriate thats totally fine. I dont think they should have a “cut off age”. Anyways I also love those boots that you paired your outfits with. Fashion items from 2 of my fav stores. F21 and H&M. You ladies look beautiful.

That’s right. A “cut off age” shouldn’t even exist!

  7. I just can’t get into the romper craze. I’ve tried some on, but I have a long torso and I”m tall so the waist hits me at a really odd angle. And it would be annoying having to go to the bathroom!! But you guys both look adorable in your outfits

    1. Cindy

Aww I’m sad they don’t work out for you 🙁 But thanks for the complement anyways! <3

They are the easiest things to wear, right next to dresses <3

I agree, there are always options out there to suit every body, age, and size, it just takes a little searching, but there ARE options. That said, I think the teal one you’re wearing is perfect for any age. It’s the perfect balance of sexy and sophisticated. I also love the yellow floral one as well, so cute with the boho vibes. Thanks for sharing ladies and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!
