This week our outfits are inspired by our friendship. I first met Cindy in high school Phys Ed class during freshman year. Our mutual love of Twilight and K-Pop, which later turned into a love for fashion and EDM allowed us to click instantly and become the best of friends. I will never forget the day and the look on Cindy’s face when a flock of seagulls flew overhead and pooped on her while we were playing tennis. It seems like forever now since both of us are coming to the end of our college years (I’ll be graduating this coming Spring, so excited!). I can’t wait to see what the coming years will have in store for us!

For those of you that don’t know, Cindy and I really love to express our friendship through our outfits. And what better way to say that you are BFFLs (Best Friends For Life) than by twinning! We decided to throw it back to our high school years with these white-lace baroque crop tops and these flouncy skater skirts from Forever 21. Considering the fact that we wore a lot of dresses and skirts consisting of mostly lacy prints and ruffles back in high school, we felt that this week’s outfit is very reminiscent of simpler times while integrating our modern fashion know-how.

 Whether it be a lazy day or you’re trying to emulate Mark Zuckerberg’s wardrobe, there are many reasons to forgo a flashier outfit for a simpler one. Avoiding decision fatigue, or even if you’re just running late, there’s no shame in getting back to the basics. We’re here to make sure you don’t look like one.

There is nothing wrong with wearing just the bare minimum, but we highly recommend adding some of your favorite accessories to ensure your personality isn’t lost within your outfit. We decided to personalize our outfits by adding accessories that show off our personal styles. As of now, I have an obsession with chokers and I absolutely adore this gold lace-pattern one from Forever 21 because of all the detailing it holds.

If you haven’t noticed by now, one of my favorite colors is red—bright, bold red. I bought these earrings from Forever 21 because they matched perfectly with my hair color. The mellow blue tone of my skirt helps to draw attention to my face and my ears.

For a bit, Cindy and I were obsessed with these BCBGeneration affirmation bracelets and were basically hunting for them in stores. They may not be too popular now, but we think they are a staple piece for cuteness. We love the ideas behind these words and love how the hardware catches the light.

Lastly, we went with our lace-up flats. I went with my suede lace-up flats from Aliexpress and Cindy’s are from Bamboo. Now flats are about as basic as they come, but if you haven’t noticed yet we feel the key to avoiding “basicness” is by adding the subtle (or not so subtle) sophistication to give your outfit a feeling of completeness. Lately, we’ve noticed that lace-ups have been trending real hard, whether it be on shoes or on tops and felt that this was a perfect way to add in that subtle, yet not so subtle sophistication.
